ICT and early years education: Finnish National Curriculum

Hi Everyone, today we will talk about the Finnish Education System 😊😊😊

ICT in education stands for Information and Communication Technology in education. It refers to the use of technology, such as computers, the internet, software, and digital devices. According to the Finnish National Curriculum the goal is to integrate technology into education to improve access to information, facilitate communication, and develop digital skills among students.

In Finland's school plan, they think it's really important for kids to learn about computers and technology from a young age. They believe that knowing how to use computers and other tech stuff is a big part of learning and growing up.

So, in Finnish schools, they start teaching kids about computers early on. This means that even when you're just starting school, you'll get to learn about using computers and other technology. It's not just a separate subject; they want to mix it into all the other things you learn.

Why do they do this? Well, Finland thinks it's essential because the world is changing, and lots of things are done with computers now. They want to make sure that kids grow up knowing how to use technology and also have the skills to solve problems and learn new things using computers.

ICT is a helpful tool in early childhood education, and the active involvement and guidance of adults are important. This makes sure that children's interactions with technology are positive, meaningful, and contribute to their complete development in a safe and supportive environment.
