How social media influences children's attention

The topic of children and digital media is complex, and particularly more and more kids have the opportunity to access various media at a very young age. The research on how social media influences children’s attention is growing in various studies, which show concern about the impact of digital media on cognitive development and attention spans.

Scholars revealed that heavy use of social media spent too much time on the platforms, resulted in shortened attention spans in children, for example, those kids who engaged with online platforms seeking immediate gratification, also have difficulty with offline activities, and a decreased ability to engage in deep or sustained thinking, and they found that it is very difficult to go through a book or even a story.

As parents or guardians, they are responsible for taking care of the kids from physical to mental. Parents or guardians need to guide kids on how to use digital media properly. For better development and health. Establish clear rules and limits around screen time, monitoring the content their children use. find a good balance the digital media use and real life.
